Laptop comparison FAQs

What does a laptop configuration mean?

A configuration is the official combination of processor, graphics, memory, storage, display, battery, and other parts sold together for a model.

Why can one laptop model have different CPUs?

Manufacturers often release one chassis with several processor options. Each option can change the graphics, cooling, battery, or available display choices.

Does changing the CPU always change the GPU?

No. Some official configurations pair a fixed GPU with each CPU, while other models allow more than one factory pairing. The comparison page keeps only combinations present in the catalog record.

Why should I compare configurations instead of only model names?

The same model name can cover materially different performance, battery, display, and upgrade characteristics. Selecting the configuration prevents a comparison between mixed or unavailable parts.

What is the difference between integrated and dedicated graphics?

Integrated graphics share system memory with the processor. Dedicated graphics have their own graphics memory and are usually intended for heavier 3D, creative, or gaming workloads.

How much RAM is enough for everyday work?

Office, study, browsing, and light development workloads commonly benefit from a sensible dual-channel memory configuration. The right amount still depends on the applications and multitasking pattern.

Is more RAM always faster?

More RAM helps when workloads would otherwise use storage as temporary memory. It does not automatically make a processor or graphics chip faster when memory capacity is already sufficient.

What does dual-channel memory mean?

Dual-channel memory uses two compatible memory paths to increase available memory bandwidth. It is a property of the installed configuration, not just the total gigabyte count.
